New Yamaha FZ X Hybrid Launched: Price, Features, Specifications Revealed

Yamaha Motor India has pulled the wraps off their 2025 FZ X Hybrid motorcycle in India today with a price tag of Rs 1,49,990 (ex-showroom Delhi). The neo-retro street bike – a first-of-its-kind in the segment, is Yamaha’s second hybrid comment in the 150cc segment after the launch of the new FZ-S-Fi Hybrid earlier this year.

The hybrid model is Rs and 20,000 more expensive than the regular FZ X that still sells for Rs 1,29,990. This puts the FZ X Hybrid directly against premium commuter motorcycles in the sub-Rs 1.5 lakh category.

Key Hybrid Technology Features

Yamaha FZ X Hybrid is powered by Yamaha’s Smart Motor Generator (SMG) and Stop & Start System (SSS) technology. When you press on the gas, the hybrid system can use some battery energy to help speed up by filling the gap where turbo lag would be, and when the car comes to a stop, it turns the engine completely off to save fuel.

Silent Starter

The silent starter system is used as opposed to the conventional starter motor. Push start operation is enabled through clutch input for effortless stop and go.

Advanced Digital Instrumentation

Highlighting the features, is the 4.2-inch full-colour TFT instrument cluster that can be paired to your smartphone through Yamaha’s Y-Connect app. The screen combines Google maps turn-by-turn directions with information like time to the next intersection, street names and the app directs you to turn as if it were leading you on foot.

It’s matched to a modernised instrument cluster, ergonomically designed for clear viewing and integrated with the digital interface that is now capable of controlling navigation functions and smartphone notifications through the handlebar switches.

Engine Specifications Remain Unchanged

Powering the FZ X Hybrid is the same tried and tested 149cc air-cooled, single-cylinder motor that punches out 12.4hp at 7,250rpm and 13.3Nm at 5,500rpm. The 5 speed transmission is same as on the regular scooter.

Fuel efficiency is the key behind the hybrid system, and the motorcycle remains at 141kg, only 2kg heavier than the non-hybrid.

Design And Safety Features

The hybrid version is introduced in a special Matt Titan colour combination, a unique matte light green combined with gold wheels. The neo-retro design concept is embodied in this body, complete with the signature Yamaha tank logomark which appears on the body.

The safety is said to be kept in check with single-channel ABS, Traction Control System (TCS), telescopic front suspension and 7-step adjustable Monocross rear suspension. The two-tone pull-tuck-and-roll seat provides more comfort for you and your passenger during long rides.

Market Positioning Strategy

Commenting on the launch, Itaru Otani, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group said, “Today, we have gathered to witness the launch of the design of a new hybrid technology and unique style. “We were overwhelmed to see the remarkable response to our first exciting introduction of Hybrid Technology in the 2025 FZ-S Fi Hybrid. Developing this innovation for the FZ-X model was the next logical step”.

There is no word on if the standard FZ X has been replaced, but so far it can still be had in Dark Matte Blue and Metallic Black colours providing choice at the lower end of the price ladder.

Availability And Booking

Booking for the FZ X Hybrid is open across all Yamaha dealerships and online channels. The motorcycle will be available from day one and is designed for urban riders and commuters who desire a higher specification and want to stand out from other machines without breaking the bank in terms of maintenance and fuel.
