The highly-anticipated Volkswagen Taigun facelift has been snapped on test in India for the first time ever, hinting at an early launch. Fresh spy shots show many design changes and hint at the availability of a level 2 ADAS suite used for the first time in the popular compact SUV.
This mid-life update is intended to help the Taigun stay competitive in a crowded segment. Although heavily wrapped in camouflage, the test mule is seen sporting a refreshed front profile which includes a new grille and updated LED headlamps, bringing it in line with VW’s global design language for its SUV range. The rear end should also have revised LED-flaunting taillights and revised bumpers.

On the inside, the Taigun facelift will get a significant technology infusion. The marquee is the anticipated inclusion of a Level 2 Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) system that could feature, for example, adaptive cruise control and lane assist. Among other expected additions are a 360-degree camera and dual-zone climate control, both of which are already available from some of the competition.
There shouldn’t be any mechanical updates to the engine in this iteration, under the hood. The refreshed Taigun is expected to make use of the same set of powertrains as before:
- 1.0-litre TSI petrol that makes 113bhp/175Nm.
- A 1.5-litre TSI petrol motor good for 148bhp and 250Nm of torque.
Transmission options will continue to include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed torque converter automatic (1.0L) and 7-speed DSG automatic (1.5L). The Taigun has been on sale since Sept 2021, and this update, tipped to arrive there by end-2025 or early-2026, comes after the spotting of its sibling, the Skoda Kushaq facelift.
