Italian scooter maker VLF has announced its Mobster performance scooter will be launched for the Indian market, the second model from the company after the Tennis electric scooter. The Mobster comes with two powertrains [125cc and 180cc] and will attack the premium maxi scooter segment led by the Yamaha Aerox 155.
The launch confirmation has been reported via an official VLF announcement, with both versions set to reach Indian roads by the end of August 2025. This puts VLF squarely in the face of some very established players within the space for performance scooters.
Engine Options: Power Meets Choice
Buyers of the VLF Mobster can choose one of two powertrain options. The 125cc version is equipped with a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor that churns out 12.1 PS at 8,250 rpm and 11.7 Nm at 6,500 rpm. This setup can push the top speed up to 100 kmph.
For those looking for more performance, the 180cc option nudges up to 17.9 PS at 8,250 rpm and 15.7 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The bigger motor helps in achieving the top speed of 110 kmph which puts it straight against the Yamaha Aerox 155’s performance numbers.
Both engines get liquid cooling and fuel injection and are of a four-stroke, four-valve design, thereby ticking the boxes for modern efficiency and meeting BS6 Phase 2 emission norms.

Premium Features Set New Standards
The Mobster stands out with segment-first features that may redefine potential buyer expectations. The scooter also has a factory-fitted, integrated dashcam – at the time of launch, this might be the first petrol-powered scooter in India to have one.
Additional premium features include:
- 5″ TFT color display with mobile mirroring for navigation
- Full LED lighting setup
- USB charging port
- Dual-channel switchable ABS
Design And Hardware
This design makes Mobster look forwardly aggressive with its naked headlamp design sans the visor, sharp bodywork line with street fighter style contoured tank design with signature day running red LED light and sporty smoky wind screen. The scooter rides on 12-inch wheels with 120-section front and 130-section rear tires.
Telescopic front forks and twin rear shockers take care of suspension duties, and there are disc brakes at both ends for stopping power. For a scooter it is kept fairly small with its 797mm seating height, 155mm ground clearance, and 8-liter fuel tank.
Pricing Strategy: Premium Positioning
Mobster’s premium positioning is underlined by VLF’s pricing approach. The 125cc iteration is likely to cost around Rs 1.40 lakh and the 180cc model around Rs 1.70 lakh (both ex-showroom).
Both these prices are considerably higher than any mainstream 125cc scooter but do put them within striking distance of the Yamaha Aerox 155, which costs between Rs 1.50-1.53 lakh.
Market Impact: But There’s A Caveat
For as cool as the Mobster looks and for all its great specs and features, it’s only going to work if VLF can build a strong, efficient service network. The brand intends to introduce its offering in select city markets with plans to scale its dealer network.
The premium price and features of the scooter are aimed at urban customers who are looking for performance and technology in their scooters, but India’s price-sensitive two-wheeler buyers may throw up challenges for volume acceptance.
