TVS Confirms New 450cc Twin-Cylinder Apache RR 450 Launch

So, it’s finally happening! TVS Motor Company has just dropped the confirmation we’ve all been waiting for – they’re actually building a 450cc twin-cylinder motorcycle. And honestly, it’s about time.

The Chennai folks aren’t doing this alone though. They’ve teamed up with BMW Motorrad again (remember how well that worked out with the 310?), and this time they’re cooking up something that could seriously shake up the premium bike segment. The best part? Both brands get their own version – BMW gets their F 450 GS adventure bike, while TVS is going full supersport mode.

Design and Positioning

Now here’s where TVS is playing it smart. While BMW goes the adventure route, TVS isn’t following the crowd into ADV territory. Instead, they’re sticking to what they know best – making proper track-focused supersport machines.

Think of the current RR 310, but imagine it hitting the gym for six months. The new 450 will definitely be more muscular, more aggressive, and knowing TVS’s recent obsession with aerodynamics, probably sprouting winglets like it’s auditioning for MotoGP. I mean, they managed to squeeze 3kg of downforce from the RR 310’s tiny wings – imagine what they’ll do with a bigger canvas!

The design language will stay familiar – that sharp, angular Apache DNA isn’t going anywhere – but expect everything to be dialed up to eleven.

Engine and Performance

Alright, let’s talk about the heart of this beast. This new 450cc parallel-twin is being built right here in Hosur, and the numbers sound promising – around 47 horses with 45 Nm of twist. That’s a solid jump from the RR 310’s 38 bhp single-pot.

But here’s the kicker – TVS claims this engine has a 125-degree firing angle, which they say is a world-first for this configuration. Now, I’m not entirely sure what black magic they’re pulling off here, but if it delivers that distinctive parallel-twin character we love, I’m all for it.

The best part about going twin-cylinder? No more of that single-cylinder thump-thump at traffic lights. This should be butter-smooth and way more refined than anything TVS has built before.

Features and Technology

If you’ve ridden the current RR 310, you know TVS doesn’t mess around with electronics. Cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, multiple ride modes – it’s all there. The 450 will probably get all of this and then some.

I’m expecting a proper TFT screen (not those tiny displays that make you squint), smartphone connectivity that actually works, and maybe some fancy new features TVS is keeping under wraps. Launch control wouldn’t surprise me at this point – these guys are clearly not playing it safe anymore.

Launch Timeline

Mark your calendars for MotoSoul 2025 in December – that’s when TVS plans to pull the covers off this thing. Smart timing too, gives them the whole year to build hype and sort out any last-minute niggles.

Interestingly, Norton (yeah, TVS owns them now) will be showing their 450cc bikes at EICMA in November. Different bikes, same engine – it’s like getting two meals from one recipe.
