Triumph Thruxton 400 Arrives In India; Launched At ₹2.74 Lakh

Triumph Motorcycles launches the much-awaited Thruxton 400 in India, priced at ₹2,74,137 (ex-showroom). The iconic Thruxton nameplate returns in a smaller, more accessible package, expanding the successful Bajaj-Triumph partnership’s 400cc lineup. This launch introduces the only café racer in the 300-500cc segment, creating a new niche for enthusiasts.

Drawing heavy design inspiration from the larger Speed 1200 RR, the Thruxton 400 boasts an authentic café racer silhouette. Its most striking feature is the new semi-fairing that wraps around the signature round LED headlamp, giving it a muscular stance. The motorcycle’s aggressive, sporty ergonomics are defined by low-slung clip-on handlebars, bar-end mirrors, and a color-matched pillion seat cowl for a clean, single-seater look.

At its heart lies the same 398cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine from the Speed 400, but it has been retuned for a sportier character. The engine now produces a higher power output of 42PS at 9,000rpm, a 2PS increase over its sibling, while delivering 37.5Nm of torque. This power is managed by a six-speed gearbox equipped with a slip-assist clutch for smooth gear changes.

The Thruxton 400 is built on the same tubular steel frame as its 400cc counterparts but features a dedicated chassis and revised suspension for a more engaged ride. It is equipped with a 43mm inverted front fork and a new gas-charged rear monoshock with preload adjustability. Braking is handled by a 300mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS as standard.

For the modern rider, the Thruxton 400 comes packed with essential technology.

  • All-LED lighting
  • Switchable traction control
  • A semi-digital instrument cluster with an analogue tachometer
  • USB charging port

While it has no direct competitors in its price or engine class, its biggest rival in style is the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650, which is significantly more powerful and expensive. The Thruxton 400 carves out its own space, offering a unique blend of neo-retro style, modern performance, and Triumph’s premium finish to a growing segment of Indian riders.
