Tata Motors will introduce four affordable compact SUVs in India under 10 lakh, aggressive foray into budget SUV space. The local car maker’s all-new models due next year are also expected to offer a world class level of premium kit and cutting edge safety gear – and with pricing on a par – potentially turning its rivals in the compact SUV segment on their heads in 2025.
Tata Punch Facelift (2025)
Tata Punch Facelift: The Tata Punch Facelift is the oldest on the list and could be launched in September 2025 and have a start price of around Rs 6 lakh. This facelifted micro-suv sets to deliver substantial interior enhancements, headlined by a larger, 10.25-inch infotainment system in place of the 7-inch unit.
The facelifted Punch will soldier on with the 1.2-litre petrol unit making 88 PS and 115 Nm of torque, however, you could see an improved CNG model along with an AMT option. Some of the expected key features will be full digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, air purifier, advanced safety suite comprising 6 airbags, 360-degree camera, ESP and TPMS.
Tata Curvv (Base Smart Variant)
The Tata Curvv in its Smart guise will provide the cheapest point of entry into the coupe-SUV segment at precisely Rs 10 lakh. Even this entry variant comes with some important premium features such as 6 airbags, ESP, hill start assist, LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lamps and so on.
The Smart version offers petrol and diesel options with manual transmission as the only transmission type. Even is its the bottom of the line model, it offers a well bang for your buck features including remote central locking and driver seat height adjuster.
Tata Nexon CNG Variants
With the Tata Nexon CNG, it broadens the under-Rs 10 lakh segment with more than one variant whose prices go down to Rs 8.99 lakh. There are Smart (Rs 8.99 lakh), Smart Plus (Rs 9.69 lakh) and Smart Plus S (Rs 9.99 lakh) variants in the CNG range.
This is India’s first turbocharged CNG powertrain – 1.2-litre turbo-petrol pushing out 100 PS power and 170 Nm torque. The CNG trim also makes it the only model in its segment to offer a panoramic sunroof and comes with dual-CNG cylinders (60-litre total capacity).

Tata Punch EV (Base Variant)
The Tata Punch EV Smart variant is priced from Rs 9.99 lakh, making it the most affordable electric SUV in India. It comes with a 25 kWh battery packs that gives a range of 315 km and 80.46 bhp.
Some of its key features include LED headlamps with DRLs, automatic climate control, 6 airbags, electronic stability program and 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating. Charging-wise, the EV version also provides quick charging, with 56 minutes of DC fast charging (10-80%) and 3.6 hours of AC charging.
Strategic Market Positioning
These four vehicles constitute Tata’s complete plan to take over the budget compact SUV segment:
- Punch Facelift: Micro-SUV segment leader in terms of features
- Curvv Smart The entry-level premium coupe-SUV with distinctive styling
- Nexon CNG: A green alternative with a turbo punch!
- Punch EV: By sensible analysis, an electric transfer solution at low cost
The pricing also ensures there is a product which covers the entire range of fuel types and customer preference but stays within the Rs 10 lakh price point. Every version is also built on Tata’s well-proven safety record, the majority of the models offering extensive airbag coverage and sophisticated driver aids.
Launch Timeline and Availability
While the Punch Facelift is estimated to hit the roads by September 2025, the Curvv Smart, Nexon CNG, and Punch EV are already on sale. The recently launched Altroz facelift, in May 2025, for Rs 6.89 lakh, adds more muscle to Tata’s value-for-money range.
This competitive pricing will help Tata Motors get hold of a large pie of the rapidly growing compact SUV segment, giving the consumer an absolutely fantastic choice of features at a sub-Rs 10 lakh price.
