Renault Boreal Specifications Out: Complete Dimensions and Features

The unveiling is part of Renault’s huge €3 billion worldwide expansion plan, with the Boreal being placed as a compact premium C-segment rival.

Comprehensive Dimensions Package

Based on Renault’s highly versatile Kardian platform, the Boreal features an expansive 2,702mm wheelbase that ensures generous interior roominess, whilst retaining short front and rear overhangs to ensure great manoeuvrability.

Generous Boot Space Configuration

Boot space measures as one of the Boreal’s strongest selling points, with the SUV providing 586 litres of cargo space with its rear seats in place. Fold those seats down however and the volume increases significantly to 1,770 liters, offering excellent family and trekking versatility.

The roomy storage arrangement is due to the modular platform design for SUVs, providing flat floor for loads when rear seats are folded. Short overhangs help to maximise load space within the vehicle’s compact external dimensions.

Durable All-Terrain Ground Clearance

The Renault Boreal provides a sense of security with its 213mm ground clearance. This unladen ground clearance value ensures competitive positioning of the SUV over other C-segment vehicles, as well as sufficient capability to negotiate off-road or typical road conditions in India.

The ground clearance figure along with the hard-wearing construction of the SUV, which is also boasting of an approach angle of 22 degrees and a departure angle of 27 degrees respectively. These specs suggest serious attention to markets where road surfaces require more clearance and approach angle.

Powertrain and Performance Specifications

The Boreal is powered by a 1.3 turbocharged petrol engine that is offered in both petrol only and flex-fuel versions, depending on market. The flex-fuel version uses 160hp and 270 Nm of torque, while the regular petrol is rated 156hp in Latin America, and 138hp in Turkey.

Power is transferred via a 6-speed EDC dual-clutch automatic transmission with 0-100 km/h taking 9.26 seconds. Family reasoning has gone into the package and the powertrain is an efficient, sophisticated performer that distributes enough go for the average family.

India Launch Strategy

In Indian market Boreal would come as 7-seater (not 5-seater which is for International market), atleast thats what the plans are that Renault is planning at present. Local production will ensure the India-specific model is priced competitively around ₹13-23 lakh when it launches in the latter part of 2026.

On its home turf in India, the Indian version will take on the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and MG Hector Plus in the premium 7-seater segment. Being assembled at Renault’s Chennai plant will ensure aggressive pricing while the offering will also preserve the SUV’s premium offerings.

Renault’s Curitiba factory in Brazil will produce it for 17 Latin American nations, and the Bursa plant in Turkey for another 54 countries. This twin-location strategy would enable Renault to maximize logistics and meet local regulations in multiple markets.

It’s a far cry from your average compact but represents a much-needed leap forward in the French brand’s global expansion by an enhanced set of ‘dimentions and capabilities, spaciousness, handing, and usable technology, making the Renault Boreal super-compliant to all countries around the world. Set for an India introduction in 2026, the Boreal is expected to bring upscale European engineering to the fiercely competitive C-segment SUV space in the country.
