The new-gen Mahindra Bolero has been spied testing on Indian roads, the images of which reveal a bold new design inspired by the legendary Mercedes-Benz G-Class. The significantly disguised test mule features circular LED headlights and an uprighter, boxier design that’s creating a lot of excitement as it approaches its expected August 15, 2025 release.
Bold Design Transformation Ahead
The spy pictures show Mahindra is trying to give India’s all-time favourite UV a radical new look. The new Bolero gets round headlights that flank a high-set grille, which has rectangular air vents. This design is a therefore a radical departure from the traditional look of the model.
The boxy dimensions and squared off stance of the SUV is reminiscent of the Mercedes G-Wagon, especially when the latter is seen in profile. The testing vehicle featured integrated door handles, boxy wheel arches and mounted on the tailgate was a spare wheel, style.
Technical Specifications and Platform
Based on Mahindra’s New Flexible Architecture (NFA), the upcoming Bolero is likely to continue positioning itself as a sub-4-meter SUV. The car will continue to have a ladder-on-frame architecture, so the ruggedness will stay intact – something that’s a big draw for the rural markets.
Key design elements include:
- Round LED headlights featuring contemporary lighting technology
- Mahindra with bold slats of its grille
- Multi-spoke alloy wheels instead of the steel wheel setup they have now
- Traditional utility vehicle practicality with side-hinged rear door
Feature Upgrades and Modern Tech
Speaking about the new Bolero, it will be a feature-rich affair to comply with the company’s recent innovations Mahindra. Expected features could add a panoramic sunroof, a massive touchscreen infotainment system and a Level 2 ADAS suite.
Interior enhancements will likely feature:
- Digital instrument cluster
- Automatic climate control
- Parktronic system with front and rear sensors and steering assistant and camera
- Multiple seating configuration options
Market Positioning and Competition
The new Bolero improves the transition between utility and lifestyle positioning. With dimensions that apparently match the Thar Roxx and ambition to catch both the regular Bolero customers and the urban guys who want a little more flamboyance their SUVs pack, it should work in theory.
On the outside, the vehicle is, not coincidentally, also G-Wagon-inspired in its appearance. The current set of Bolero-based G-Class copies reflect that desire to go all the way.
