Mercedes-AMG GT 63, GT 63 Pro India Launch: All Details Inside

Mercedes-Benz India has officially launched the second-generation AMG GT 63 4Matic+ and GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ today, and honestly, it’s about time! The flagship performance coupe makes its triumphant return after what feels like an eternity – okay, five years – but who’s counting?

This launch marks Mercedes India’s fourth and fifth model introductions of 2025. They’ve been on quite a roll this year, haven’t they? First came the G-Class Electric, then the EQS SUV 450, followed by the Maybach SL 680, and now these beauties. Both variants are coming via the CBU route, which means limited numbers – so if you’ve got your heart set on one, you might want to start sweet-talking your dealer.

Design and Dimensions

Here’s where things get interesting. The new-generation AMG GT has basically hit the gym and bulked up considerably. We’re talking 182mm longer, 45mm wider, and 66mm taller than its predecessor, with the wheelbase stretched by a whopping 70mm.

But this isn’t just Mercedes playing the numbers game. Those extra millimeters actually mean something – you now get a more practical 2+2 seating layout instead of the strict two-seater setup of the original. Your friends might actually fit in the back now, though they’ll probably still complain about legroom.

The styling? Pure AMG aggression with some modern aerodynamic wizardry thrown in. The Pro variant gets the full treatment with additional aero bits, larger wheels, and those gorgeous ceramic brakes that’ll make your wallet weep but your heart sing.

Engine and Performance

Both cars share the same mechanical DNA – a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that sounds like Thor’s hammer hitting an anvil, paired with a 9-speed dual-clutch gearbox and 4Matic+ all-wheel drive. But here’s where they start showing their personalities.

The regular AMG GT 63 pumps out 585bhp and 800Nm of torque. To put that in perspective, it’s actually more powerful than the first-generation AMG GT-R that we used to get here. Zero to 100kmph happens in just 3.2 seconds – that’s barely enough time to say “Holy moly!” – and it’ll keep going until it hits 315kmph.

The GT 63 Pro? Well, it’s basically the GT 63’s older brother who went to the gym religiously. With 612bhp and 850Nm on tap, it’s got 27 more horses and 50Nm extra twist compared to the standard car. The 0-100kmph time stays the same at 3.2 seconds, but it’ll demolish the 0-200kmph sprint in just 10.9 seconds and top out at 317kmph. Those extra 2kmph might not sound like much, but bragging rights are bragging rights!

Features and Interior

Step inside and you’ll find yourself in familiar Mercedes-AMG territory. The cabin borrows heavily from the AMG SL 55 – not a bad thing at all. You get a 12.3-inch instrument cluster that’s crisp as a winter morning and an 11.9-inch portrait-oriented infotainment screen that’ll make your smartphone jealous.

The AMG steering wheel feels just right in your hands, the sculptured sport seats hug you like a long-lost friend, and there’s actually decent storage space now. Remember the old GT’s practically non-existent boot? Those days are behind us.

Mercedes has gone a bit overboard with cooling on the Pro variant – and we’re not complaining. Two massive air intakes up front, dedicated brake cooling ducts, and actively cooled differentials and transfer case. There’s even a removable front license plate for better airflow. It’s like they’re saying, “Go ahead, take it to the track. We dare you.”

Pricing and Availability

Now for the million-rupee question – actually, make that three million rupees. While Mercedes hasn’t officially announced pricing yet, both models are expected to cross the Rs 3 crore mark ex-showroom. For reference, the previous AMG GT 63 S E Performance launched at Rs 3.30 crore back in 2023.

There’s also whispers about an extremely limited AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ Motorsport Collectors Edition floating around. Word is it’ll sport the Mercedes F1 team livery – because apparently, some people want their cars to look like they belong on the Monaco GP grid rather than Mumbai’s streets.

The return of the AMG GT nameplate is like getting your favorite band back together after years. It fills a proper gap in Mercedes-AMG’s Indian lineup and gives performance junkies a genuine alternative to the Porsche 911 Turbo S and other exotic machinery that costs as much as a small apartment.
