Mahindra Vision X Side Profile Revealed: Urban Electric SUV Previews XEV 7e Design

Mahindra has released a new teaser of its Vision X concept, which offers a glimpse of the side profile of what looks like the carmaker’s most city-friendly electric SUV yet, ahead of its August 15 revelation. This week’s reveal gives us a look at a radically different design to the rugged Vision series stablemates, suggesting a premium city-centric all-electric vehicle.

The Vision X is characterised by the long, sculpted bonnet, balanced proportions, and a strong palette of colours and materials, which contrasts directly with the more rough and rugged lines that Mahindra vehicles have become known for. This is a profile teaser, but what we can make out are headlamps mounted into the bumper, while the alloy wheels look like they are aero-optimised, reflecting a more efficiency-oriented design over something more rugged like a ladder-frame vehicle.

Design Shifts Toward Premium Urban Market

In contrast to the muscular Vision S, Vision T and Vision SXT concepts that celebrate Mahindra’s heritage as a manufacturer of rugged SUVs, the Vision X’s body gets smoother surfaces and sharp arches. The overall look is shorter and more squat than its brethren, suggesting that this version could also be marketed as a family-focused option for city living.

It’s believed that the Vision X may point the way for the XEV 7e, a conventional SUV counterpart to the XEV 9e coupe-SUV. The XEV 7e test mules seen on multiple occasion with XUV700 body shells have been wrapped to conceal the production interior which has EV specific bits derived from the XEV 9e.

Freedom NU Platform Powers Next-Gen Lineup

Along with the white, yellow (yellow!) and orange study models of other concepts of the series, the Vision X fills in the color spectrum for b>ackers of Mahindra’s Freedom NU platform, in grey for Mahdi to the GREY-VE! This flexible architecture allows for different types of powertrains, including internal combustion engines, hybrids and full electrics.

A total of four concept SUVs will be unveiled on the same day in Mumbai, showcasing Mahindra’s vision for future mobility. The Vision T looks similar to the Thar that has already been shown. his concept with the focused Vision S aimed at the electric Scorpio space.

The urban positioning that Vision X projects further underlines Mahindra’s intention to go up the performance SUV ladder and beyond hardcore off-roaders such as the Thar and Scorpio. This idea probably speaks to the expanding interest in compact and midsize SUVs, where tech-friendly, eco-friendly vehicles are becoming the norm.
