KTM 390 Adventure X Discontinued, Feature-Rich X Plus Variant Incoming

KTM has quietly pulled the plug on the 390 Adventure X, with the Austrian brand gearing up to launch the more feature-packed 390 Adventure X Plus in the coming weeks.

The move comes as KTM dealerships across India have stopped accepting bookings for the current Adventure X variant. The timing makes perfect sense – riders have been asking for more tech without having to shell out the full premium for the top-spec 390 Adventure, and KTM seems to have listened. Classic case of “give the people what they want,” right?

What’s New in the Adventure X Plus

The biggest talking point of the Adventure X Plus will be its IMU-based electronics package, borrowed straight from the standard 390 Adventure. Think of it as the middle child that finally gets some hand-me-downs from the elder sibling – except these are the good kind of hand-me-downs.

The new variant will pack cornering ABS and cornering traction control – features that work brilliantly on the top-spec model and should make the X Plus a much more confident companion on twisty mountain roads. I mean, who doesn’t want their bike to be smarter about keeping the rubber side down? Add cruise control to the mix, and you’ve got a proper touring machine that won’t break the bank or your thumb on those endless highway stretches.

KTM is also throwing in three ride modes – Street, Rain, and Off-Road – giving riders the flexibility to adapt to different conditions. No more praying to the motorcycle gods when the weather turns nasty.

What Stays the Same

Don’t expect any dramatic changes to the formula that works. The Adventure X Plus will continue riding on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels, maintaining its road-biased touring character with just enough off-road capability to handle the occasional dirt track or that shortcut through the village that looked good on Google Maps.

The adjustable suspension from the standard model won’t make it to the X Plus, but honestly? The stock setup on the current Adventure X strikes a sweet balance between comfort and sporty dynamics anyway. Most of us aren’t suspension tuning wizards, so this isn’t really a deal-breaker.

Price and Positioning

Here’s where it gets interesting – and where your wallet starts paying attention. The Adventure X Plus is expected to command a premium of around Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 over the outgoing Adventure X, which was priced at Rs 2.84 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

That price hike might make you wince initially, but here’s the thing – the current Adventure X is already Rs 76,559 cheaper than the regular 390 Adventure. The X Plus should slot in nicely between the two, offering better value for riders who want more features without selling a kidney. It’s like getting business class comfort without paying first-class prices.
