Kinetic DX Electric Scooter Launched, Challenges Ather and Ola with Retro Style

New Delhi – Kinetic has revived its revolutionary DX scooter in an eco-friendly form as it has introduced the all-new Kinetic DX starting at ₹1.11 lakh (ex-showroom). The launch comes as a big foray into the lucrative electric scooter segment in India, where it will compete with the likes of the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ather Rizta and Ola S1 Pro to name a few.

The Kinetic DX comes in two models, the base DX and the top-spec DX+. The original is still the inspiration for both the models, to create a nostalgic appeal, with modern features.

Performance and Specifications

The Kinetic DX is built around a 4.8kW hub mounted motor that is fuelled by a 2.6kWh LFP battery pack. This configuration gives the claimed IDC range of up to 116 km in the DX+ variant with a top speed of 90 km/h, while the standard DX has a claimed range of 102 km with a top speed of 80 km/h.

Key specifications include:

  • Motor Power: 4.8kW (DX+) / 4.7kW (DX)
  • Battery: 2.6kWh LFP
  • Range (IDC): 116km (DX+) / 102km (DX)
  • Maximum Speed: 90km/h (DX+) / 80km/h (DX)
  • Charge Time: 0-80% in 3 hrs
  • Storage: 37-litre underseat capacity

The scooter comes with three riding modes — Range, Power, and Turbo — as well as a reverse mode to help you park. The scooter also boasts a “Easy Charge” system, with a built-in cable and charger in the scooter body.

Features and Rivals

Other features on the Kinetic DX include an 8.8-inch LCD instrument cluster, cruise control, keyless ignition, and Bluetooth speakers. Meanwhile, the range-topping DX+ trim also gets telematics options which includes vehicle tracking and geo-fencing.

The Kinetic DX is jumping into a crowded pool. Its primary rivals include:

  • TVS iQube: It’s a segment leader as well, as it gives you a 94 km range but at a price point around ₹94,434 (ex-showroom), it’s available, little lower than that.
  • Bajaj Chetak: TVS and Bajaj have together conquered a big chunk of the pie when it comes to electric scooter market, with almost half the pie now occupied by legacy brands.
  • Ather Rizta: This is a family-oriented scooter and is a features and practicality-rich option.
  • Ola S1 Pro: Formerly the dominant player, Ola has ceded market share to increased competition and concerns over the quality of the service.

Market Context

The launch also comes at a time of high churn in India’s electric two-wheeler market. Legacy automakers TVS and Bajaj outsold startups in June 2025, together accounting for nearly 46% of the total market. This development indicates that consumers may be valuing brands with more established service support networks.

Kinetic is hoping a mix of nostalgia, practicality, and of course aggressive pricing will allow it to find a sales niche somewhere. Reservations for the Kinetic DX are opening now, with only 40,000 vehicles available in the first batch and delivery planned for September 2025.
