Honda has officially announced the global debut of its first high-performance electric motorcycle on September 2, 2025. The company released a teaser video showcasing a camouflaged prototype, signaling its entry into the performance EV segment.
This new model is expected to deliver performance comparable to a traditional 500cc petrol motorcycle. While full specifications are still under wraps, this move marks a significant step in Honda’s global electrification strategy. The upcoming motorcycle appears to be heavily based on the EV Fun Concept that was displayed at the EICMA show last year.
The teaser reveals several key design elements pointing to a sporty, street-naked motorcycle.
- An aggressive front profile is highlighted by a wide LED DRL strip.
- It features clip-on handlebars, bar-end mirrors, and a large, high-resolution TFT display.
- The bike is confirmed to support CCS2 fast-charging, a standard also used in electric cars, allowing for quicker charging times.
While this launch is a major development for the global EV market, an India launch is unlikely in the near future. Industry analysis suggests the premium positioning and expected high price point do not align with the current mass-market focus in India, where Honda is concentrating on electric scooters like the Activa e:. The new electric motorcycle will likely compete with models like the made-in-India Ultraviolette F77 in the European market.
