Fact-Checking Policy

We want to get it right.
Precision is not an option at Secondhand.org.in — it is the standard. Everything we publish is fact-checked, double-checked and sourced. And if we’re wrong? We fix it. Fast and transparently.

How We Verify Information

Every detail is scrutinized by our editorial team before anything goes live. That means:

  • Cross-establishing facts across multiple credible sources
  • Speaking directly to specialists or officials as necessary
  • Applying a sense of context and credibility to each source

We don’t put anything out that we wouldn’t put our name on.

Where Our Info Comes From

We follow the most straightforward, reliable sources available. That includes:

  • Government press releases and public records
  • Authoritative and well-publicized reports
  • Direct quotes from those of authority or those in the know

If we can’t rely on a primary source, we’ll explain why, and we’ll show you our work.

Fixing Mistakes

Nobody’s perfect. If we spot a factual mistake — or you do — we’ll:

  • Clearly flag the correction on the story (at the top and the bottom)
  • Tell what didn’t work and what we did differently

No sneaky edits. No quiet changes. Just honest corrections.

Being Open With You

We want readers to see how we do what we do. If you’re ever curious about how we reported something, or even if you just want to offer feedback or criticism, tell us. We take feedback seriously.

No Agenda, No Outside Influence

We keep it clean. Our fact-checks are independent and nonpartisan. No advertiser, sponsor or outside group gets a say in our journalism or how we verify it. We’re committed only to the truth!

Found a Mistake? Tell Us.

If there’s something you think we got wrong or missed, please tell us. Just send:

  • A description of the issue
  • Any applicable links or documentation
  • Extra context, if you have it

Our team will look into it. If we get it wrong, we’ll fix it.

Always Getting Better

We’re not stuck in our ways. Our editors stay sharp in a fast-moving digital world by training regularly on new tools and best practices. Our fact-checking approaches change — but our standards remain the same.

Bottom line: We think the truth is important. That’s what fuels our work every day.
