Bandit9 Reveals Radical Ducati 821 With Aluminum Body; Just Nine Units Exist

Vietnamese custom motorcycle workshop Bandit9 has released their newest creation, and this time they have taken a 821 Ducati and made it into something incredible! The ultra-exclusive design is an individually hand polished seamless aluminium body, only nine will ever be created worldwide retailing from $44,900 USD.

Originally a one-off for a San Francisco collector, the design of the bike was inspired by one of Bandit9’s previous concept bikes the “EVE Odyssey”. The build turns the old Ducati Monster 821 into a rolling sculpture, with bodywork that looks like it’s machined from a solid chunk of metal. The polished aluminum surfaces dissolves into carbon fiber on the seat and tail sections and there are no visible fasteners or panel gaps.

A Rideable Work of Art

Named to reflect its appearance of “liquid metal,” the Bandit9 Ducati 821 is a study in obsessive craftsmanship. Starting with integrated LED lighting and a custom-milled aluminum fuel cap, and then on to every other part of the motorcycle that has been redesign and hand-built to achieve its own aesthetic purpose. Centrepiece of the design is a tailored steel trellis frame strengthened with cast aluminium.

While it may appear to be pure art, the motorcycle is actually designed for performance—focused on maneuvering the mountain roads. It carries over many of the fundamentals of the Ducati it’s built around, so you’re assured of performance to match the looks.

Performance and Specifications

Underneath its neo-futuristic styling, the bike is built around Ducati’s reliable 821cc Testastretta 11° L-twin motor. Bandit9 has left the powertrain untouched, creating a high-powered combination of power and nimbleness. Key performance figures include:

  • Power Output: 110 horsepower
  • Peak Torque: 65.8 lb-ft
  • Acceleration (0-60 mph): 3.3 seconds
  • Top Speed: 125 mph (201 km/h)
  • Wet Weight: 175 kg (386lb.)

The build is finished with race spec components such as 43mm Ohlins front forks, and Ohlins rear shock, and Brembo brakes with ABS. These nine machines will each be individually built to the specifications from the given owner, and are said to take six months to build per motorcycle, making this a proper bespoke item for the garage of someone who relishes in custom design and engineering.
