JSW MG Motor India makes official the debut of its top of the line MG M9 electric MPV which will be unveiled on 21st July 2025. The premium three row EV is India’s first luxury electric MPV, with pricing of between ₹65-70 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up against the likes of the Toyota Vellfire and the Kia Carnival.
Reservations started in May 2025 for a deposit of ₹51,000 through MG’s premium ‘Select’ dealership network. The premiere MG Select showroom in Thane was opened on July 9, and the number is expected to reach 14 by the time the industry would be dealing with the festive season.
Powertrain And Range: 90kWh Battery Pack
The MG M9 gets a 90kWh battery pack along with a single front-axle electric motor churning out 245 PS and 350 Nm of torque. MG boasts an internal testing range of 548 km on a single charge but, if we are to go by real-time estimates it would be around 400-420 km on Indian roads.
The 0-100 km/h dash is completed in 9.9 seconds, which is quite respectable for a car this size and weight. Three drive modes and a range of regenerative braking settings allow you to tailor the driving experience to the current environment.
Dimensions And Design
Measuring 5,270mm long, 2,000mm wide, and 1,840mm tall, the MG M9 is now India’s longest and widest MPV. The generous size also means the interior space – three proper rows of seating will accommodate seven – is worthy of the category.
Outside, it sports a pair of sunroofs – a regular one for people in front and a panoramic sunroof at rear. There are 3 colours to choose from Mystic Grey, Luminous White and Cardiff Black.
Interior Features
In the M9’s cabin, that focus on rear-seat enjoyment was notable with massaging captain seats in the second row, and dedicated entertainment screens. Premium amenities include:
- 12.3-inch touch infotainment with Android-inspired interface
- immersive sound with 12 speakers
- 3-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents
- Ambient lighting in 64 hues
- Wireless phone-charging capability and several USB ports in all three rows
Second-row passengers are treated to 220V sockets for laptops and small appliances, and individual entertainment screens on longer trips.
Safety And Technology: Advanced Driver Assistance
The MG M9 has a full set of safety features, such as seven airbags, electronic stability control, 360-degree camera system, etc. ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems): Blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control.
Other tech touches are vehicle-to-vehicle charging, vehicle-to-load technology and an electric tailgate with hands-free opening.
Market Positioning: Premium Electric Segment
The MG M9 is set to take on a market with close to no competition as the first luxury electric MPV in India. With an anticipated asking price of ₹65-70 lakh, it sits between old-school luxury MPVs such as the Kia Carnival, and premium sedans, adding a fresh variant of electric mobility in the people-mover genre.
The car becomes MG’s fifth electric offering for India, following ZS EV, Comet EV, Windsor EV, and the upcoming Cyberster electric sports car. This diversification heralds MG’s commitment to electric technology in different classes of vehicles.

Driving Experience: Comfort Over Performance
According to early reviews, the M9 was said to be a quiet, relaxed driver’s car. Body roll is evident around corners thanks to the 2-tonne-plus weight and broad footprint, though straight-line stability is strong on the freeway.
That suspension is tuned more for comfort than handling, though, as the Nitro does a nice job of soaking up bumps. Light steering and easily modulated brakes make the M9 ideal for being chauffeured around in.
