Mahindra has released new design sketches of the Vision SXT concept as part of a new teaser, in the run up to the automaker’s Independence Day unveiling on August 15, 2025. The most recent look shows off the Vision SXT’s tall front end and muscular lines, making it clear that this is a utilitarian SUV concept.
Center of Attention with Bold Design Elements
The Vision SXT demonstrates a more heavy-duty, utility-driven design mentality with some highlights as well. The idea showcases unique clamshell bonnet enhancements with drastic grooves and bold design cues for an assertive look that pays homage to its practicality. Bonnet hinges are mounted on the outside, indicating an open access to engine or battery.
The vehicle’s muscular flared wheel arches and impressive skid plate ensures the SUV is up to the challenges of the outdoors. These elements add to Mahindra’s classical SUV DNA and also have a few contemporary details.
Pickup Truck Potential Emerges
And industry observers claim the Vision SXT could be a prototype for a pickup truck on the Scorpio-N chassis. This reading is reinforced by the design’s “instrumental” elements and the functional visuals of the concept. Their exposed hinges and rugged, bumpered design reveal an emphasis on practicality and strength.
The Vision SXT has several design cues in common with the Vision S concept such as external bonnet hinges and clamshell bonnet design possibly indicating a common platform.

Freedom NU Platform Powers Innovation
All four have been developed on Mahindra’s new Freedom NU platform, including the SXT. Such a flexible approach allows the company the freedom of choice between ICE, hybrids, and full electrics, and flexibility in terms the kind of products it would like to make in future.
Mahindra’s new Chakan plant near Pune will produce the platform with maximum annual production capacity between 1-1.2 lakh units. This throughput is not something frivolous, there’s some serious commercial objectives behind the proof of concept.
Part Of Comprehensive Vision Lineup
The Vision SXT is the fourth concept to be shown off on August 15, joining the Vision T (a preview of an electric Thar), Vision S (hints at a new Scorpio-based SUV) and Vision X (a compact urban SUV). The two concepts each aim at very different customer groups, yet share the same base in the Freedom NU platform.
This holistic strategy is an indication that Mahindra is planning to offer its set of SUVs across multiple segments with similar design theme and platform sharing.
The show vehicle, Vision SXT concept is Mahindra’s courageous leap into expanding range of utility vehicles, also signaling company’s potential entry in modern pickup truck market, with ease of replacing powertrain options and visual aesthetics.
