New Aprilia SR 175 Debuts With 174cc Engine, TFT Display – Check Price

Aprilia SR 175 launched in India: The SR 175 is on sale in India in place of the SR 160, priced from Rs 1.26 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra). The new sporty scooter is the more powerful 174.7cc scooter and comes with a host of technology upgrades including a 5.5-inch TFT display similar to the premium motorcycles from Aprilia.

More Power, Same Sporty DNA

The SR 175 comes with a 174.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which makes 13.08 BHP at 7,200 rpm along with 14.14 Nm at 6,000 rpm. This is a big step-up from the old SR 160, that produces 11.27 BHP and 13.44 Nm. The motor is linked to a CVT automatic gearbox for uninterrupted power transmission.

Tech-Forward Features Take Center Stage

The most important addition is the 5.5-inch colour TFT instrument cluster – the one that also does duty on the Aprilia RS 457 and Tuono 457 motorcycles. Bluetooth 5.0 compatibility with the Aprilia mobile app integrates functions including call and notification notifications as well as easy management of music playback.

Additional tech features include:

  • USB charging port for smartphone integration
  • Single-channel ABS for enhanced safety
  • LED head and tail lights for better visibility

Design And Hardware Specifications

It holds on to the aggressive, sporty stance of the previous model but adds two new colours: Matte Prismatic Dark and the Glossy Tech White. The scooter takes cues from Aprilia’s latest motorcycles, and looks similar to the RS 457 in terms of colours.

Key Hardware Specifications:

  • 120 section tyres on 14 inch alloy wheels
  • Front telescopic forks and rear monoshock suspension
  • Front disc brake 220mm and rear drum brake
  • 6-liter fuel tank capacity
  • Single-piece seat with grab handle

Pricing And Market Position

The Aprilia SR 175 is priced from Rs. 1.26 lakh in Maharashtra and prices vary from state to state up to Rs. 1.33 lakh (ex-showroom). It is priced head-to-head with the Yamaha Aerox 155, which is a more powerful scooter at 15 BHP compared to the SR 175’s 13.08 BHP.

Internet Divided On Performance Claims

For the extra grunt over the previous SR 175, auto buffs have been grumbling on whether it is enough to justify the premium. The closest competition to the scooter would be the Yamaha Aerox 155, which makes 15 BHP – almost 2 BHP more than the SR 175. Aprilia on the other hand retorts with better fit and finish and the advanced TFT display system.
