It’s a fast charger too – a 100 kW DC fast charger can take its battery from 10-80% in just 39 minutes. There are home charging facilities from 7.4 kW – 11 kW AC chargers for overnight convenience.

HTK Plus Variant Features

In terms of the entry-level variant, HTK Plus gets the necessary EV bits as well as a few comfort features.

Cabin kit includes a pair of 12.3-inch dash displays, wireless smartphone connectivity and six airbags as standard. The variant also comes with electronic stability control, hill-start assist and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.

HTX Variant Upgrades

The HTX version comes with luxury and convenience kit over the base models.

Design and Styling Elements

Design-wise, the Carens Clavis EV remains nearly identical to its ICE counterpart, with a few EV-centric design tweaks.

Outside, the Fit EV has a joined LED light bar across the front, profile-enhancing 17-inch alloy wheels with enhanced aerodynamics (look for them on the regular Fit soon), and discreet EV badges. There are six colour options to select from -Ivory Silver Matte, Glacier White Pearl, Pewter Olive, Aurora Black Pearl, Imperial Blue and Gravity Grey.

Inside, the console has been completely reworked with black and white color scheme, and you also have the added bonus of extra storage space as the traditional gear lever has been ditched. The modern vibe is carried over with the two-spoke steering wheel and touch-operated climate controls.

Market Positioning and Competition

The Carens Clavis is the newest entrant in India’s yet-to-boom electric MPV segment, which so far has only one offering in the form of the BYD eMAX 7 that retails for over Rs 25 lakh. Kia’s aggressive pricing places the electric MPV as a swank family vehicle alternative to the electric SUVs in the form of the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Creta EV.

As for infrastructure support, there are more than 11,000 charging stations across the country accessible to Kia EV6 owners via the MyKia app using the K-Charge platform. The network covers 18 of the largest charge point operators (CPOs) and allows for urban and highway driving.

The Carens Clavis EV is a testament of Kia’s commitment to enhance the domestic electric vehicle ecosystem in India and will establish new benchmarks for pricing and content levels, in the premium electric family car category.
