Upcoming 7-Seater SUVs in India 2025-26: Grand Vitara to MG Majestor

Upcoming 7-Seater SUVs in India 2025-26: The Indian SUV market is about to get a whole lot more crowded, with automakers lining up an impressive roster of 7-seater ICE SUVs for 2025 and beyond. From Maruti’s long-awaited Grand Vitara stretch to MG’s premium Majestor, families looking for spacious rides have plenty to get excited about.

Maruti Suzuki 7-Seater Grand Vitara Launch Date and Price

After years of watching rivals like Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari dominate the mid-size 7-seater space, Maruti Suzuki is finally ready to throw its hat in the ring. The 7-seater Grand Vitara, internally codenamed Y17, is expected to arrive around Diwali 2025.

The stretched Grand Vitara will retain the same 1.5-litre petrol mild hybrid and strong hybrid powertrains that have made the 5-seater version popular. Design-wise, expect minor tweaks like redesigned bumpers and updated lighting clusters, but the core DNA will remain unchanged. Pricing is likely to fall between Rs 20-25 lakh, putting it squarely against the Alcazar and Safari.

Toyota won’t be far behind with their rebadged version – the 7-seater Hyryder – which should follow shortly after Maruti’s launch. Expect Toyota to price it at a Rs 1.5-2 lakh premium over the Grand Vitara, as is their usual strategy.

MG Majestor 2025 Features and Specifications

JSW MG Motor is taking a different approach entirely. Their MG Majestor, set to launch by mid-2025, positions itself as a premium alternative to the Gloster rather than a replacement. Think of it as MG’s answer to the Toyota Fortuner and Skoda Kodiaq.

The Majestor gets significant exterior design upgrades over the Gloster, including a wider front grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps, and connected LED tail-lights. Under the hood, it’s expected to carry forward the Gloster’s 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine.

Mahindra XEV 7e Electric SUV India Launch

While most manufacturers are sticking to ICE powertrains, Mahindra is preparing to shake things up with the XEV 7e – essentially an electric XUV700 built on their new INGLO platform. Expected to launch in July 2025, it could be priced between Rs 21-30 lakh.

Upcoming 7-Seater SUVs 2026-2027 India

The pipeline doesn’t end in 2025. Hyundai has a mysterious 7-seater SUV (codename Ni1i) in development for 2026-27, which will reportedly be their first hybrid offering in India. Skoda and Volkswagen are also working on 7-seater versions of the Kushaq and Taigun respectively, though these won’t arrive until 2027.

Renault is bringing back the Duster name with the Bigster – a 7-seater version expected in early-to-mid 2026, powered by a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine and priced up to Rs 27 lakh.

Best 7-Seater SUVs Under 30 Lakh India 2025

This 7-seater SUV rush reflects a fundamental shift in Indian buying patterns. Families want the commanding driving position and road presence of an SUV, but they also need the practicality of three rows. The success of models like the XUV700 and Safari has proven there’s serious money to be made in this space.

For buyers, this means more choice than ever before. Whether you want Maruti’s fuel efficiency, MG’s premium positioning, or Mahindra’s electric future, 2025 looks set to be the year of the 7-seater SUV. Just don’t expect any bargains – most of these new models will start well above the Rs 20 lakh mark.

The only question now is whether the market can absorb all these new players, or if we’re heading for a classic case of too many SUVs chasing too few buyers.
