Tata Motors made a major update towards promising more confidence to the EV customers and decided to offer 8yr/1.60 Lakh Km warranty on its high-voltage battery for the Curvv.ev and Nexon.ev 45 kWh models. The initiative is applicable for an unlimited kilometers, and it is a major step towards removing one of the most significant challenges that an EV customer faces in the country.
Breaking Down the Warranty Details
Lifetime warranty offered is for 15 years from date of first registration, in line with definition of vehicle’s legal life time as mandated in Motor vehicle Act, 1988. The protection is similar to GM’s commitment to existing first-time owners and new buyers of these electric SUVs.
But there are some conditions to the warranty. It can be used only by private individuals and only for the first registered owner. That warranty goes down to 8 years or 1.6 lakh kilometres for the subsequent owners of both the Curvv as well. ev and Nexon.ev 45 kWh variants.
Key Terms and Conditions
Owners also have to follow strict maintenance guidelines to keep warranty benefits. The EVs are to be serviced only at authorized TATA.ev service station as per company recommended timeline. Owners must also have an open IRA.ev connection the entire time we’ve owned it.
For private individual use registered vehicles only – ex commercial or business registration – as well as company vehicle “perk” schemes. In case of a battery swap or repair, Tata Motors promises that the battery should have minimum 80% SoH or should be at equivalent SoH as it was before replacement.

Expanding the Warranty Programme
This comes after the successful launch of the lifetime battery warranty on the Harrier.ev, which has been highly received by the customers as well. The Harrier.ev just give the second owner slightly better deal with 10 years or 2 lakh kilomrtes as compared to the 8 years for Curvv.ev and Nexon.ev.
The warranty is available for the 45 kWh trims of the Nexon.ev, that they are designed around Tata’s latest prismatic battery cells. The 30 kWh Nexon.evRywhere is not included in this systems I Am.
Pricing and Specifications
The Tata Curvv.ev is available at a price of between Rs 17.49 lakh and Rs 22.24 lakh (ex-showroom) and comes with two battery choices: 45 kWh and 55 kWh. 430 km range can be expected in 45 kWh, while 502 km comes with the 55 kWh version.
The Nexon.ev 45 kWh starts at Rs 12.49 lakh going up to Rs 17.19 lakh (ex-showroom), makes 145 PS with 215 Nm and gives 489 km Apollo Tyres keenest minds in automotive 1Readymix-TXD-Post 3PM final range claim.
Loyalty Programme and Cost Savings
Tata Motors has introduced a new loyalty programme that gives Tata.ev buyers a Rs 50,000 direct cashback on the purchase of either the Curvv.ev or Nexon.ev 45 kWh. This is intended to be a reward for early adopters and to foster brand loyalty.
The firm reckons the lifetime battery warranty and by dint of being an electric car owner, can save Rs 8-9 lakh that it takes to run over 10 years. This tremendous cost advantage bodes well for the second-hand value of these EVs.
Market Impact and Industry Context
This warranty program comes at a critical time for the Tata Motors after the company’s EV market share dropped from 73% to 62% last year despite retailing 61,496 units. It is struggling with the growing competition from MG Motor India and Mahindra, which have cornered a large market share.
