BMW Motorrad is going to be a game-changer in the entry-level adventure segment. With the F 450 GS, BMW is set to change the game by offering a semi-automatic gearbox option alongside the traditional manual transmission. Making the legendary GS standard more accessible than ever, the upcoming production bike will, with a bit of luck, be just as good as the concept.
Semi-Automatic Technology Takes Center Stage
The fresh F 450 GS will be available with both a traditional manual gearbox and a semi-automatic transmission system. This semi-automatic system is quite different from the automatic shift assistant available on BMW’s top-of-the-line models, and it was developed specifically for the low-capacity segment.
This semi-auto gearbox will be complemented by multiple riding modes along with the availability for a quickshifter, adding refinement to this machine. The integration is designed to appeal to existing adventure motorcycle riders and new riders.

Powertrain and Performance Specifications
Powering the F 450 GS is a new 450cc parallel-twin engine, one which develops up to 47-48 bhp. The engine is newly designed specifically to produce high torque at low revolutions.
Key technical highlights include:
- 450cc parallel-twin cylinder configuration
- 47-48 bhp maximum power output
- 175kg kerb weight – in part the result of magnesium materials
- Pair of Wheels: Front 19″ and Rear 17″
Advanced Features and Technology
The F 450 GS is set to feature a full range of modern technology to help keep riders both safe and on the go. The motorcycle will get a 6.5-inch TFT display which can be connected to options and also for the critical ride data.
Safety features include:
- ABS Pro with lean-angle sensitivity
- Cornering ABS technology
- Multiple customizable riding modes
- High-performance braking systems
Market Positioning and Competition
According to BMW Motorrad, the F 450 GS would be the smallest sibling in the GS range, sitting on top of the G 310 GS in the range. The bike will lock horns with (Triumph) 400s offering, KTM 390 Adventure and also the long-standing favourites—Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 respectively.
The anticipated price would mean it could cost less than Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom) and should see the bike in a segment that is witnessing strong growth numbers.
Production and Launch Timeline
The F 450 GS will be produced by TVS Motors in India, manufactured in TVS’ Hosur factory for BMW, just like the G 310 models. The ready-to-sell version would make its maiden appearance at EICMA 2025 in November and production would start from the fourth quarter of 2025.
Market entry in India is expected to be sometime in early 2026, and the motorcycle’s price is expected to be in the range of Rs 4-5 lakh to keep a check on rivals in the segment.
Design and Styling
The F 450 GS is characterised by the typical GS family design language, which is inspired by the top-of-the-range R 1300 GS. The Auto Expo 2025 show concept had the trademark high-front beak, LED headlight installation, and flowing tank styling which actually is the GS design philosophy.
It will also get tubeless spoke wheels shod in dual-purpose knobby tires, adding a hint of what it’s capable of outside the tarmac while also considering on-road comfort.
