Mahindra is set to launch the highly anticipated facelift for its iconic three-door Thar before the Diwali festive season this year. The refreshed off-roader, spotted testing frequently, reveals significant upgrades inspired by its larger sibling, the Thar Roxx. Key changes include a revamped front design, a modernized cabin with a larger touchscreen, and enhanced safety features.
The 2025 Thar facelift gets a bold new face, borrowing heavily from the five-door Thar Roxx. The front profile features a redesigned grille and new circular LED projector headlamps, giving it a more contemporary look while retaining its signature rugged appeal. Mahindra has also updated the front and rear bumpers and added a fresh set of 5-spoke alloy wheels, with new LED tail lamps completing the exterior revisions.
Inside, the Thar’s cabin receives a major technology overhaul. The dashboard now houses a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a feature borrowed directly from the Thar Roxx. A fully digital 10.25-inch driver’s display is also expected on higher-spec models.
Ergonomics have been improved, with the power window switches moving from the center console to the driver’s door panel for easier access. Other expected additions include automatic climate control and A-pillar-mounted grab handles, enhancing both comfort and convenience.
Under the bonnet, the Thar facelift is expected to continue with its tried-and-tested engine lineup. This includes the 1.5-litre diesel, 2.2-litre diesel, and 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engines, available with both manual and automatic transmissions and 4×2 or 4×4 options.
On the safety front, Mahindra is expected to make six airbags standard across all variants, a significant upgrade from the current dual airbag setup. The refreshed SUV will continue to rival the Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny in the lifestyle off-roader segment.
