New Maruti SUV Named Victoris To Launch September 3; Targets Hyundai Creta

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki is set to launch its new Hyundai Creta rival, the Victoris, on September 3, 2025. This all-new midsize SUV, internally codenamed Y17, will be positioned between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara, targeting the heart of the competitive SUV segment. The Victoris will be sold through Maruti’s widespread Arena dealership network, indicating an aggressive, value-focused pricing strategy.

The Victoris will offer a versatile range of powertrain choices borrowed directly from the Grand Vitara. Engine options will include a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol, a 1.5-litre strong-hybrid system, and a factory-fitted CNG kit, catering to diverse customer needs. A key highlight for enthusiasts will be the availability of an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system paired with the petrol-automatic transmission.

By retailing the Victoris through Arena showrooms, Maruti Suzuki is giving its volume-driven dealerships a new flagship product, a position vacant since the launch of the current-generation Brezza and Ertiga. This strategy deliberately places the Victoris as a mass-market alternative to the premium Grand Vitara, which is sold exclusively through Nexa outlets. This approach mirrors the company’s successful positioning of the Ertiga (Arena) and the XL6 (Nexa).

The new SUV enters a fiercely contested market, aimed squarely at unseating segment leaders like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. It will also contend with the soon-to-be-updated Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq. Following industry trends, a Toyota-badged version of the Victoris is also expected to launch at a later date.
