Ather Energy has introduced a new variant of its Ather 450S electric scooter with a larger 3.7 kWh battery pack. This variant is now I-CAT approved and offers an IDC-certified range of 161 kms per single charge and is available with a price tag of Rs 1.46 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).
This strategic evolution reinforces the 450S as a price powerhouse in the market appealing for a longer-range to a wider audience. The new variant sits between the entry-level 450S (with a 2.9 kWH battery) and the top-end 450X model. Reservations for the new scooter have now opened at all dealerships and the brand’s online, while deliveries are expected to begin in August 2025.

But despite the massive size jump in the battery, the performance figures are unchanged. The same 5.4 kW motor is employed that churns out 22 Nm of twisting force.

There is a catch, however. The new 450S gets badged as such but keeps the 7-inch LCD dashboard with features like turn-by-turn navigation and Bluetooth sync, unlike the more advanced TFT touchscreen in the 450X, and AutoHold, Fall Safe, and Emergency Stop Signal are the safety features that make the cut. The battery will be included in Ather’s Eight70 warranty that cover 70% health for 8 years or 80,000 km.
