Tata Motors Reveals Bold 2030 Plan: 30 New Cars, 7 New Nameplates

Tata Motors has unveiled an aggressive long-term plan to release 30 new vehicles by Fiscal year 2030, as part of the largest product plan in its history. The plan encompasses seven brand-new nameplates and 23 facelifts or updates to its current models, increasing its total portfolio to more than 15 cars. That strategy represents a big push to cement its standing in the market with a strong emphasis on the SUVs, electric vehicles (EVs) and new body styles.

After the Sierra, Tata will bring its premium EV brand — Avinya, with a minimum of two cars anticipated to arrive by 2027.

New Models and Powertrains

And to freshen up its current line-up, the company will also have 23 updates in a mix of special editions and full facelifts for some of its popular models like Nexon, Punch and Tiago.

A significant part of this plan is bringing petrol avatars, for the Harrier and the Safari SUVs, by 2026. These top of the line SUVs are set to come with a new 1.5-litre turbocharged gasoline direct injection (TGDI) engine that will be capable of an estimated power output of 170 PS and a peak torque of 280 Nm.

This multiple powertrain approach, supported by an investment up to ₹35,000 crores, demonstrates Tata Motors ambitions to grab a bigger pie in the growing UV market which is slated to grow 55% by FY30. The company is setting itself up for the future, when the last big cars on the road will be hybrids, SUVs, or electric vehicles.
