Mahindra’s Vision T concept teased again, shows off rear-end design bits; confirms lineage, reveals how it will look, making Thar-fanatics take notice before August 15 unveil
The new set of images which appear to be the first of the services of the coming SUV shows us the quirky tail lamps and some of the rear styling cues giving credence to the fact that this is the near-production Thar Electric.
The homegrown SUV maker is maintaining its strategic tease for the Freedom_NU event, where four concept vehicles will be unveiled across the globe on Independence Day. The Vision T will ride alongside the Vision S, Vision SXT and Vision X in Mahindra’s boldest concept array to date.
Fresh Rear Design Glimpse Surfaces
The latest teaser offers the best look yet at the Vision T’s rear, following previous shots of the bonnet and side-angle. Among the key design elements that are visible include the angular tail lamp clusters, and a muscular rear stance that is still able to sustain the boxy SUV silhouette that has become synonymous with the Thar family.
Previous teasers showcased squared-off wheel arches, chunky off-road tyres and the distinctive set of bonnet latches similar to the Thar.e concept first debuted in South Africa in 2023. The progressive reveal tactic is proof that Mahindra believes in the production-readiness of Vision T.
Thar Electric Connection Strengthens
Design similarities shared with the Vision T and the 2023 Thar.e continue to build anticipation. The clamshell bonnet lines, squared-off flared wheel arches and front indicators that look like they’ve been stretched outwards are cut-and-paste versions of the electric off-roader concept.
Industry rumours indicate that the Vision T is a production-ready evolution of the Thar Electric and that it could be equipped with dual-motor all-wheel drive technology. The concept is slated to go into production by 2026, and is expected to cost about ₹20 lakh.
Freedom_NU Platform Underpins Vision Series
All four Vision concepts will pack Mahindra’s new Freedom_NU architecture that’s capable of handling petrol, diesel, hybrid, and all-electric powertrains. This modular approach allows the company to react promptly to the market requests, also offering a coherent design between several body types.
The platform could be utilised to cater to the annual production of up to 1.2 lakh units at Mahindra’s freshly expanded Chakan plant located on the outskirts of Pune. This production arrangement will enable the company to take advantage of increasing penetration of electric vehicles in India in addition to stricter emission norms in several of the big cities.
