TVS Apache RTX 300 Launch Confirmed For August, Set To Challenge KTM 250 Adventure

According to the latest media reports, TVS Motor Company will be introducing its much-awaited Apache RTX 300 adventure tourer in India in August 2023 and the bike is going to be rival for the KTM 250 Adventure. The first adventure tourer from the Hosur-based two-wheeler maker stands to rattle the 250 – 300cc ADV segment.

The RTX 300 will be powered by TVS’s new 299cc liquid-cooled RTX D4 motor that produces 35bhp at 9,000rpm and 28.5Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm. This in-house made heart takes over from the BMW-engine on the outgoing version, putting TVS in full control of the bike’s development and the pricing.

Pricing and Market Position

The Apache RTX 300 is expected to be priced between ₹2.50-2.90 lakh (ex-showroom) to keep costumers interested in a segment that certainly has potential sitting right between the KTM 250 Adventure and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. This should make it at least ₹10,000 cheaper than the KTM 250 Adventure’s existing ₹2.60 lakh price tag.

The motorcycle aims to capture the fastest-growing adventure touring segment in India, which has responded extremely well to models like the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the KTM Adventure series.

Technical Specifications and Features

The bike is based on a steel trellis frame and rolls on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels, reiterating its road-biased touring nature and not hardcore off-road intent. Magic Fox rides on upside-down forks at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the back.

Key Technical Highlights:

  • Engine: 299cc, liquid-cooled, single cylinder, RTX D4
  • Power Output: 35bhp at 9,000rpm
  • Torque: 28.5Nm at 7,000rpm
  • Transmission: 6-speed with assist and slipper clutch
  • Fuel Tank: Projected 14.5-15 liters, those frame rails look like they’re angled pretty steep to me.
  • Brakes: Dual-channel ABS with modes to switch between

The motorcycle comes with a ride-by-wire throttle system which lets you choose between different riding modes depending on the type of terrain. Other electronic rider aids include a traction control system, cruise control, and a color TFT instrument display with Bluetooth capabilities and turn-by-turn navigation.

Design and Ergonomics

Styling The Apache RTX 300 features standard adventure touring styling that includes a large semi-fairing, tall adjustable windscreen and muscular fuel tank design. The split seat layout and neutral riding ergonomics read more toward long range comfort than crouching sport touring.

Latest pictures from the spy shots surface the motorcycle testing against the obvious competition such as the KTM 390 Adventure and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, implying that TVS will be fine tuning the final product keeping it in check with these competitive products.

Competitive Landscape

The RTX 300 drops in a crowded but potentially profitable market populated by several incumbents:

ModelEnginePowerPrice (₹ Lakh)
TVS Apache RTX 300299cc35bhp2.50-2.90
KTM 250 Adventure249cc31bhp2.60
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450452cc40bhp2.85-2.98
Yezdi Adventure334cc29.6bhp2.18-2.25

The specifications also put light on how the Apache RTX 300 has an upper hand over the KTM 250 Adventure, producing 4bhp more despite displacement figures being similar. This could be important on highway touring and over-taking activities.

Market Strategy and Launch Timeline

The adventurers tourers represent a strategic leap for a company that has been associated with sport and commuter motorcycles, so far. The firm presented the RTX 300 concept at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 and has now filed design patents in India.

August 2025 launch should coincide with the festive season demand to give TVS the best market conditions for introduction of the new category. Analysts believe TVS is likely to gain market share from incumbents on the back of its vast dealer network and competitive pricing.

While there isn’t any positive confirmation about the same, the ADV-related machine would be a pivotal product in TVS’ quest in serving high-end European and Indian marques for the money rich ADV touring space which may act as a game-changer in India’s sub-500cc ADV category.
