Porsche Taycan 4S Black Edition Launched With 598hp Electric Powertrain Setup

Porsche has widened its Indian electric line-up with the introduction of the Taycan 4S Black Edition at Rs 2.07 crore (ex-showroom). The blacked-out version gets Rs 11 lakh on top of the base Taycan 4S, and adds unique styling features and full features for the Indian luxury EV scene says Porsche.

It is based on the normal model’s powertrain and feature specifications but incorporates several unique aesthetic highlights. A 105kWh battery pack (97kWh net) serves juice to twin motors making 598hp and 710Nm (with overboost). Performance stats are also still big with a 0-100kph time of 3.7 seconds and a massive WLTP range of 668km.

The Taycan 4S Black Edition sets itself apart from other derivatives through select exterior touches. An application of high-gloss black also runs along the front apron, the side skirts, the rear diffuser and the lower part of the outside mirrors. The signature light strip with ‘PORSCHE’ lettering is also given the black treatment, as are badges and lettering.

Tipping the sinister over style-wise are 21-inch ‘Aero Design’ alloy wheels in gloss black, along with darkened headlights. They are made for Porsche lettering in white, thereby producing a high-quality very clear projection during the evening arrival.

Despite the “Black Edition” tag, 13 body colors have been taken from the standard program. These options are made up of classics such as Black and White, as well as premium materials like Jet Black Metallic, Volcano Grey Metallic and Gentian Blue Metallic. Exclusive choices, such as Frozenberry Metallic and Purple Sky Metallic, appeal to those rare people who want to stand out.

Cabin design is essentially the same as the standard Taycan 4S, with an identical long list of standard features. Standard kit consists of a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, and full ADAS. Additional on-board comfort features include 14-way power adjustable front seats, 4-zone climate control, and a 710W Bose sound system with 14 speakers.

Interior upholstery selections skew toward the dark side, including two Race-tex options in black and a pair of monochrome leather options, one of which is black. Optional contrast dual-tone interior offerings can be seen in some colors.

The Black Edition still has the the regular model’s fast charging capability with a 320kW DC fast charger taking 18 minutes to charge. This high speed charging prowess is exactly what solves the problem of range anxiety, and the 668km WLTP range will offer considerable real world usability for driving in India.

This converst power from the electric drivetrain to all four corners, delivering the same kind of Porsche driving dynamics that helped define the Taycan range. In terms of performance credentials, Black Edition becomes a direct rival to other luxury electric sedans making their way to India.

Priced at Rs 2.07 crore, Taycan 4S Black Edition focuses on customers who want to choose exclusivity within Porsche’s electric portfolio. The premium over the standard car has been introduced to add to the comprehensive styling package and improved standard equipment levels.

The launch underlines Porsche’s focus on the emerging luxury EV segment in the Indian market, further expanding its offerings beyond its standard Taycan range which was introduced in India in 2021. With a choice of powertrain options spanning the Taycan line-up, the Black Edition adds further incremental personalisation options to the marque’s electric performance car family.
