The Indian car market is currently experiencing a surge of demand for large family friendly cars, henceforth various carmakers are going to introduce 7-seater SUVs in the course of 2025. These will be followed by four key launches in the next few months, which will redefine the three-row space with hybrid tech, electric powertrains and premium content.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara 7-seater: November 2025
Expected Price: Rs 14-22 lakh (ex-showroom)
Launch Timeline: November 2025
Maruti Suzuki’s most awaited launch plugs a stretched chassis in order to squeeze in the third row, and maintains the successful Grand Vitara’s CODs-like design language. The automaker will provide the SUV with a choice of 1.5-litre Naturally Aspirated Petrol & strong-hybrid powertrain options, mated to manual and automatic gearbox options.
Standout features will be a panoramic sunroof, bigger infotainment system and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Internally codenamed Y17, the model could be sold as Escudo or Tornado, in direct competition with the Kia Carens and the Hyundai Alcazar.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder 7-Seater: Late 2025
Expected Price: Rs 14-16 lakh (ex-showroom)
Launch Timeline: Late 2025
Toyota’s competitor in three-row form will follow the Grand Vitara’s adaptive platform logic, albeit with its own styling. Spy photos are confirming this as 20YM prototype has been seen testing and the front is seen in one of the testing mules.
The Hyryder 7-seater will get some design tweaks and more upmarket features as standard than its 5-seater sibling. It could skip the ADAS suite at launch though, and be priced by Toyota at a premium of Rs 1.5-2 lakh over the Maruti car.

The electric SUV will bring some more premium must-haves of the XEV 9e to forward-thinking families longing for green mobility without sacrificing roominess and performance.
MG Majestor: May 2025
Expected Price: Rs 70 lakh (estimated)
Launch Timeline: May 2025
MG’s premium 7-seater to go on sale after debuting at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Placed higher than Gloster, the Majestor will get major changes on the outside, however, the powertrains remain the same.
It will be positioned for buyers who are looking for a premium option in the full-sized 7-seater SUV segment, and as such, will rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Jeep Meridian.
Market Impact and Competition
These launches come at a time when the seven-seater segment is witnessing a surge, with the likes of the Mahindra Scorpio N (Rs 13.99 lakh) and XUV700 (Rs 14.49 lakh) holding sway in terms of sales. The fresh players will also add to the competition in the Rs 14-25 lakh price range, giving purchasers an unprecedented range of powertrains to pick from.
The transition in the segment towards hybrid and electric powertrains on the brink of evolving reflects changing mindsets and the need for manufacturers to invest hard into sustainable mobility while adding the practical allure that our Indian families seek.
