2026 Toyota Hilux Design Leaks Reveal Radical New Interior and Bold Exterior

Recent patent leaks have pulled the covers off the upcoming 2026 Toyota Hilux, showcasing a pickup set for a significant overhaul. The leaked images point to a comprehensively updated exterior and, more importantly, a completely modernized, tech-focused cabin that appears heavily inspired by the new Land Cruiser Prado.

The new design gives the Hilux a more aggressive and contemporary stance. Its front fascia is completely revamped, featuring sleeker headlamps, a boxier grille, and a rugged new bumper. For added functionality, designers have cleverly integrated a step into the rear bumper, a feature seen on its arch-rival, the Ford Ranger, making access to the cargo bed easier.

But the biggest changes are inside. Toyota has addressed one of the major criticisms of the current model by introducing a radically redesigned interior. The dashboard now houses a large, floating infotainment display and a digital instrument cluster, bringing the Hilux in line with its modern competitors. A new gear selector and a redesigned center console complete the tech-savvy makeover.

While the design is new, the 2026 Hilux is expected to be an evolution of the current model rather than an all-new vehicle. It will likely continue to use an updated version of Toyota’s proven IMV ladder-frame platform. Under the bonnet, expect an updated 2.8-litre diesel engine, now paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system for improved efficiency and performance.

This major update is Toyota’s clear response to growing competition in the pickup segment. While an official debut is expected later this year, the new Hilux is anticipated to launch in global markets, including India, in 2026.
