2026 KTM 690 Enduro R, SMC R Break Cover With 79 HP Engine

KTM has officially unveiled the 2026 iterations of its popular single-cylinder motorcycles, the 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R. Both models receive significant updates, including a more powerful engine, a modern electronics suite, and chassis refinements, with a global launch slated for September 2025.

The heart of the update is the heavily revised 692.7cc LC4 engine. Now Euro 5+ compliant, the single-cylinder powerplant produces a potent 79 hp and 73 Nm of torque, making it one of the most powerful production singles available. KTM says around half of the engine’s internal components are new, contributing to increased power and extended service intervals.

A major technological leap comes in the form of a new 4.2-inch full-colour TFT display, replacing the old LCD unit. This modern dash integrates KTMconnect for smartphone pairing, turn-by-turn navigation, and media controls, all managed via new backlit switchgear. The upgrade also brings a comprehensive rider-aid package, including lean-sensitive cornering ABS and cornering Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC) as standard.

Each model gets tailored electronic modes to match its purpose. The off-road-focused 690 Enduro R is equipped with a Rally mode that features a new Dynamic Slip Adjust system, while the supermoto-style 690 SMC R gains a Track mode with launch control, anti-wheelie functions, and a slip adjuster.

Chassis updates include a stiffer steel trellis frame for improved feel and revised settings for the WP suspension on both bikes, aimed at enhancing compliance and comfort. The motorcycles also feature new, more durable in-mold graphics and updated LED lighting.

While the 2026 KTM 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R will arrive at international dealerships starting in September 2025, the timeline and pricing for an India launch have not yet been confirmed.
