2025 Maruti Celerio Safety Upgrade: Six Airbags, ESP; Check New Prices

2025 Maruti Celerio: Maruti Suzuki’s latest Celerio for 2025 now packs six airbags as standard across the board, along with electronic stability control, hill-hold assist and three-point belts for every passenger—safety once reserved for pricier cars, and now trickling down to the A-segment hatch.

Under the skin, nothing’s changed: the familiar 1.0-litre K-series petrol engine still puts out 65 PS and 89 Nm, paired to your choice of a five-speed manual or AMT. The CNG version, meanwhile, offers 55 PS and 82 Nm, but only with the manual gearbox. It’s a tried-and-tested combo that Maruti buyers know well—and trust.

But this leap in equipment hasn’t come cheap. The base LXI petrol now starts at ₹5.64 lakh, a jump of ₹27,500. Opt for the VXi petrol MT and you’re looking at ₹5.99 lakh (up ₹16,000), or ₹6.49 lakh for the AMT (+₹21,000). The VXi CNG MT sits at ₹6.89 lakh—again ₹16,000 more than before. Even the mid-spec ZXi variants have climbed by ₹27,500 to ₹6.39 lakh (MT) and ₹6.87 lakh (MT), while the top-of-the-line ZXi+ AMT now asks ₹7.37 lakh after a ₹32,500 hike.

Having tested dozens of entry-level hatchbacks over the years, I can say confidently that six airbags plus ESP and hill-hold is rare in this price bracket. That speaks to Maruti’s authority and experience in delivering both value and peace of mind. On the flip side, budget-minded buyers might balk at the new sticker—after all, Tata’s Tiago and Hyundai’s Grand i10 Nios are hot on safety features too, and sometimes come in a tad cheaper.

If you’re in the city, doing school runs or daily commutes, the extra outlay could be worth it. Maruti’s vast service network means you’ll be in safe hands. But if you’re really chasing the lowest price tag, these hikes might sting, especially when rivals are closing the gap.

At the end of the day, the 2025 Celerio leans hard into safety without reinventing its wheelbase—which is exactly what a lot of first-time buyers and small-family urbanites really want. You get Maruti’s trusted engine, efficient running costs and now segment-leading kit. Just be ready to pay a few more rupees for that extra layer of protection.
