2025 Kawasaki Ninja 300 Launched in India: Kawasaki has brought in the 2025 model year Ninja 300 in India at a price of ₹3.43 lakh (ex-showroom) without updating the cost on this otherwise ageing warrior but have updated the looks somewhat to freshen it up. The bike sports new projector headlamps, a bigger windscreen and new tyre patterns, even though the basic package remains almost the same.
What’s Actually New This Time
Let’s not be too generous here – this “all-new” Ninja 300 is stretching things. The changes are somewhat minimal, but here’s what Kawasaki has actually altered for 2025.
The most evident change is the new projector headlight unit which is taken from the ZX-6R and is a major facelift from conventional halogens. There’s also a bigger floating windscreen inspired by the ZX-10R, which should give better wind protection from any highway excursion one may be tempted to take the supercharger-equipped comic book bad guy on.
Kawasaki has worked on the tyre tread patterns as well – you will have MRF Nylogrip Zapper FX2 at the front and Nylogrip Zapper S1 at the rear – which it believes will offer a better grip and stability.
Colour choices are Lime Green (finished in KRT Edition-style graphics to match the Ninja 650), Candy Lime Green and Metallic Moondust Grey. There are refreshed livery designs, which aren’t wildly different from before.
The Elephant in the Room
This is where things start to get itchy. The Ninja 300 is fundamentally operating from a 13 year old platform It first appeared in 2012. As groundbreaking as it was at the time, the competition has now pulled far ahead.
It is still powered by the same 296cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that makes 39PS at 11,000rpm and 26.1Nm at 10,000rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox with assist-slipper clutch. There are no changes to the suspension as well, with the motorcycle continuing with 37mm traditional telescopic forks up front and a rear monoshock with 5-step preload adjustability.
What’s especially interesting is the fact Kawasaki phased out the Ninja 300 in most international ex-Indian markets circa 2018, replacing it with the Ninja 400. And it’s still sold in India, perhaps one of the only other markets it’s available at present, which speaks volumes about the penny-pinching nature of our local marketplace.

How It Compares With Rivals
At ₹3.43 lakh, the Ninja 300 continues to be the most affordable parallel-twin faired offering that you can buy in India. But that’s where the good news stops.
The KTM RC 390 also provides much more performance, from its 373cc single-cylinder motor. Here, Yamaha has answered by throwing in a more contemporary twin-cylinder 321cc motor. And don’t forget the Aprilia RS 457 whose 457cc parallel-twin is miles ahead for performance and kit.
Even single-in-line options such as the TVS Apache RR 310 deliver a richer overall package with modern and competitive performance.
The Pricing Reality Check
You can get the 2022 model with ₹25,000 off bringing the effective price down to ₹3.18 lakh. That makes the deal a bit more palatable, but it also shows how the struggling company is having a hard time moving inventory.
The on-road prices differ from each other by a fair margin — from ₹3.78 lakh to ₹4.26 lakh. Factor in insurance and accessories and you’re staring at a major investment in what is basically decade-old technology.
Bottom Line
The ‘25 Ninja 300 is, sadly, a wasted chance. As nice as the updates are, it amounts to band-aids on a platform that’s screaming for a complete makeover.
It would be smarter for Kawasaki to make the Ninja 500 home buildable at a price point that equals the RS 457 and the R3. The Ninja 300 deserves its place in motorcycling as an entry-level foray into twin-cylinder motorcycles, but it’s ready for a reinvention.
Delivery begins in early June 2025. Whether the people who buy it in 2025 will be equally charmed by that notion is another thing, particularly considering you can get far more modern-sounding products for the same price.
Fans of the Brand’ The global unveil of the Ninja 300 takes place on the 42nd Anniversary of Ninja series that was launched in 1984 with the Ninja 900. Maybe this is the time for Kawasaki to pay homage to that heritage with something actually new rather than a warmed-over recipe.
